Ahhh...summer!

Happy Birthday to Owen, Papa and Landon!

Every summer since 2000, my dad has had to share his birthday with Landon, and then Owen came along and now it's the 3 of them. Owen's is July 29th, my dad's is July 31st and Landon's is August 1st. So, within 4 days, we've got 3 birthdays to celebrate. This year, however, I decided to have the boys' early because we would be in Alabama with Nathan for their birthdays. Although it hasn't been said, I'm pretty sure my dad will feel a little lonely without them this year, which is also disappointing for us. He loves them so much!

We invited a few close friends and our good friends from Georgia were in town, so they were able to be a part of it. Landon was especially excited because his " special friend" Harper, from Georgia was there! We had it at the park across from my parents house and were lucky enough to get one of the pavilions. We had great weather, except for the 5 minute downpour that we had. Again, lucky to have the pavilion! The boys were happy to get a few gifts to open and money for our upcoming Disney trip, in 2 weeks.

I made croissants the night before with turkey or ham. We also had watermelon (as you can see in the photo above), potato salad and chips. Cupcakes topped off the party! Overall, we had a nice day!

Rylie donates her hair

Rylie Donates Her Hair June 2008

Rylie heard from a friend over a year ago that you could cut your hair and donate it to Locks of Love. Once Rylie knew that she could do a good thing for someone who was in need, she didn't hesitate. It didn't surprise me because that's just how she's always been, very compassionate. So, we began the process of growing it out, making sure that we kept it trimmed up enough so that there were no dead-ends. It didn't take long before we had at least 10 inches (which is the requirement) to donate. We made an appointment with my life-long friend and hair stylist, Marissa, and had it done. Once we got it washed and into a pony tail, we discovered that she had a full 12 inches to donate. One little snip and the process began. Boy, she has thick hair! Rylie proudly held up her pony and offered a huge smile. She says she feels like a new woman and can't wait to grow it back out and donate it again! We are very proud of her and hope that her beautiful hair will help someone else feel beautiful too.
